Collections

The Clinton Historical Society maintains and opens its collections and museums to the public free of charge throughout the year.

  • The fully renovated Clinton Historical Society Museum in Andrews Memorial Town Hall tells the story of Clinton through exhibits and artifacts.

    Current Exhibits:
    "Clinton: Pathway to a Town"

    The Museum Room features the exhibit CLINTON: PATHWAY TO A TOWN, which explores the town's history, including it's first settlers (the Hammonasset tribe), English colonization, Clinton's role in our nations conflicts, transportation, business and education. Visitors can watch a 10-minute video, and try several different hands on activities, including a fog signal, then and now flip activity and a Native American matching game.

The 1750 Elisha White House (known as Old Brick), furnished with antique furniture, paintings, toys and quilts, is the oldest brick home between New Haven and New London.

  • Buell Tool Museum houses early tools and machines used by the Buell family whose ancestors were among Clinton’s first settlers.

Open July and August

Tuesday: 10:00 a.m.-noon
Saturday: 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

  • George Flynn Library, the Society’s research facility, maintains and preserves documents, genealogical material, photographs, diaries, books, and papers from and about Clinton.

Open year round

Our Flower Gardens also include indigenous herbs and plants that served as staples for Colonial kitchens and households
