Thrills and frights await all who dare to join this year's annual Halloween “Ghost Walks” sponsored by the Clinton Historical Society. This popular event is scheduled for October 22nd and 23rd with three tours each night beginning at 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00 p.m. As in the past, the lantern-lighted tours will include a stroll past historic homes harboring ghostly secrets, but more chills await visitors this year than ever before. The hour-long walk through the darkened town streets will be strewn with spectral surprises as historical ghosts come to life and tell their tales. Eventually the tour winds through the Indian River Cemetery with ancient burial grounds dating back to the 1600s! In the darkened graveyard, lit only by a few candles and the crescent moon, more of Clinton’s illustrious, long-dead characters reveal their horror-filled stories. The tour also includes a crackling bonfire, refreshments, a visit to the Stanton House, and a tour of "Old Brick."
This popular event sells out quickly and space is limited. Tickets are $13 per person. Reservations are required and can be made beginning Oct. 1 by sending an email to CHSOldBrick@gmail.com. Please give us your name and phone number, the date and time of the tour you want to reserve, and the number of tickets you need. You will receive a return confirmation by e-mail within a week. Cash or check will be collected at the door on the night of the event.
The tours begin at the Clinton Historical Society, 103 E. Main Street. Comfortable shoes are recommended as the terrain in the graveyard can be uneven. Guests are encouraged to bring a flashlight. Please inform us if you need to cancel your reservation, as space sells out and we maintain a waiting list. In the event of heavy rain we will reschedule for Thursday, October 24th. Weather cancelation details will be posted on the Society’s answering machine and website.
